Happy Leap Day

Hey all and happy February 29th, leap day.  The whole significance of having a February 29th every four years is to keep us in "time".  It actually takes the earth 365-1/4 days to make one complete revolution around the sun so the extra day every four years bring us to where we should be.  You do the math, thats enough scientific content here already.

Drummers keep time (among other things) so I declare February 29th National Drum Solo Day.  To start things off here is one of my favorites.  See, drums solos don't have to be and shouldn't be boring.  Who says you have to go a concert to see a drum solo, check this out.  Couldn't have a National Drum Solo day without hearing from the master.  Moving into the speed metal arena check this guy out, keep your eyes on the sticks if you can. Here is another classic master, did you catch his super rolls?  Drummers come from walks of life and all ages, check this kid out.  But wait here is one even youger.  Last but not least, click here.

I hope your time here was well spent, if your a drummer you "get it" if you are not I hope you "get it" a little more than you did just a short time ago.

Tired of Winter yet....

Well I am..

Tired of driving to and from work and everywhere else I have to go on slippery/snowy roads.  Spring is coming....right???

I was checking the hit stats for the Six Syllable Sin web site earlier this week.  I am delighted to see the site has been hit by people as far as California, ok to be fair one of them is a good friend of mine.  But the hit in southern Cal. well I have no idea who that could be, but that is way cool to say the least.  Plus there has been some site hits from Kansas and Colorado.  Bring 'em on.  The more the merrier.  There has also been some voluntary additions to the email list.  Thanks, you won't regret it.

Here is a great video to check out, Yellow Ledbetter by Pearl Jam . Outstanding job that guy did with that video.  So if Six Syllable Sin covers that song at any gigs that we play and you just happen to be there than I will be expecting you to sing along..

Here is another good song/video.. KoRn Did My Time.  Silver mirror finish Tama drums...cool.. among other things... Ok I have to admit I watched that video three times thru before I started typing here again I like it so much.

That is it for now.  Thanks for reading...and as always there is more coming....

Now its going......

Well the full official Six Syllable Sin site has been officially up and running for just less than a week now and I am happy to announce that if you "Google" Six Syllable Sin... guess who will be on the top of the search.  Yes, yours truly "US" here at sixsyllablesin.com.  It's nice to be on top.  We have had hits in California and Kansas, and we haven't even played in either place yet....

Added yet another of our originals to the player on the site.  Please keep in mind that this is a raw track and the "only place" on the internet you can listen to them right now.  Hope you all like it as it shows yet another side of Six Syllable Sin that you have yet to hear.

Glad to see some of you are taking the opportunity to answer our poll questions.  Those of you who haven't really should.  Take for example this months questions as to what beer is your beer of choice.  Now the members of Six Sylllable Sin drink the different beers listed in the poll. But I wont tell you who prefers to drink which beer.  That may be next months poll question but we will see.

So Bruce has now got me officially hooked on the band KoRn.  One of my particularly favorite songs is called "Trash", you can check one of the videos by clicking here.  But be warned I wouldn't play this around children or while at work....

That song I will admit can be a little harsh but its got a great hook and a good simple beat, music needs to move something inside of you in some way or else it just gets washed away with everything else in the gutter.

In the near future look for contributions on this blog from Bruce and Scott,  I am in no way going to let this be all me.  That is one of my goals with this.

Even if there are only a few I am glad to see there are some subscribers to this feed....

SixxAM

I hope this link below works, never tried this kind of thing before.  Anyway check it out, it's a photo montage someone out on utube put together for the song from SixxAM called Life is Beautiful.  That is Nikki Sixx's post Motley Crue band for those of you that didn't know.  When your my age you remember the early Motley days and all the mayhem that went along with Motley Crue during the 80's I just never realized how far gone into the drug life Nikki went. He is lucky to be alive today.  I learned that from reading "The Heroin Diaries" which I and everyone in Six Syllable Sin has read and would recommend it as a good read for you.

Anyway check the video out, it's cool.

Six Syllable Sin is currently in the studio recording and producing their upcoming ep and progress is coming along great.

Superbowl Sunday

I went out with some friends last night to see our bass player Bruce Cook play in his other band called Bar Code.  They are great and diverse rock and roll cover band, so diverse that they even have a horn section that sometimes accompanies them.  The horn section of Bar Code did not play last night so it was just the five core members of the group jaming away for three full sets to a packed house at Waltz on Inn in Portland MI.  Outstanding show guys...

Six Syllable Sin is in the studio recording original material hoping to have a four song ep out sometime soon so those of you out there that haven't stopped by while we were rehearsing can hear what we have been doing.  The band is pretty excited about it.  I will say that when you get that much creative energy in one room things do happen.  We are recording and producing these songs ourselves so it will take some time to get them "out there" since we in the band all have families and regular day jobs, but our music is importaint to each one of us.

Rock on

Six Syllable Sin..

Welcome to the Six Syllable Sin Blog

Hey to all of you who are reading and welcome to the Six Syllable Sin blog page.  Please be a little patent as both this blog and the website are still being developed.

I was excited when I did the domain search and found the Six Syllable Sin name was available so I snagged it and started tossing around ideas for a website.  Thats when I discovered I knew nothing about how to build a website nor did I know the programing language to bring the ideas to life.  So I did some intense research and found a lot of helpful tools available on the internet and the cool thing is that they were all free plus there fun to play around with.

Still working on the site content and design but progress is moving right along.  We are trying to make this site different from other band sites out there and are tossing around a few ideas to do just that.   There will be a music player which will play our songs, that will be installed when we finish recording in the studio which will probably be a while yet.  Things in the studio are going really well.

If you have any ideas for this site please drop us a line, email us band@sixsyllablesin.com , we would like to hear what you have to say.

Later..
