But every generation rails against the previous generation's aesthetic, don't they? &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But it's also interesting that grunge is considered a punk/metal hybrid (, and that although there was a general rejection of the flashy style of hair metal and it's relatively shallow subject matter (e.g. girls, cars, cash, etc..), many grunge bands were heavily influenced by the same bands that influenced metal (black sabbath, zeppelin, etc...).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Every genre has it's heyday, and then another twenty some years later it has a revival. My daughter and her friends (all around 13-14 yrs old) are into Ac/Dc, Metallica and Guns &amp; Roses.
